Aleshia Gates, 52, teachers aide, a resident of Muskogee, OK; passed away, Wednesday, November 26, 2014.

Aleshia Regina Gates was born on September 5, 1962 in Muskogee, OK; to Alvin Q. Gates Jr. and Bertha Jean Owens Gates.

After graduating from Muskogee High School in 1980, she later attended Northeastern State University where she received a Bachelor's degree in Psychology & Spanish.

After graduation she and her sister moved to Dallas, TX. Aleshia found her joy in helping others. Aleshia was employed by Dallas I.S.D., United Cerebal Palsy Foundation and many group homes. Aleshia also provided private sitting for many special needs families.

Aleshia loved to travel. She had recently journeyed to Spain, London, Italy, Germany and also the Caribbean.
Aleshia later returned to Muskogee, OK; to care for her beloved parents and also her family.

Aleshia faithfully attended First Baptist Church, Summit, OK; where she was lovingly embraced by the congregation and Pastor, Rev. Charles Moore.

Aleshia is survived by her sister, Denise Gates Obinegbo and niece, Alexandria, of the home, Alex's father, Chidi Obinegbo, Hazel Owens Dozier, Muskogee, OK; Faye Gates, Wallace (Caroline) Owens Jr., Alvin E. (Carmel) Owens, Anthony Gates and Garvey (Florence) Gates, a special cousin, Constance Beasley, Muskogee, OK; along with a host of cousins, friends, clients and co-workers that will miss her dearly.

We will all miss her jovial personality, compassion for others and that smile that could light up a room.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted, Saturday, December 6, 2014, 3:00 p.m., First Baptist Church, Summit, OK; with Rev. Stanley Bateman, eulogizing. Inurnment will follow in Booker T. Washington Cemetery, Monday, December 8, 2014, 10:00 a.m.
