"Swing Low Sweet Chariot, Coming to Carry Me Home" Alma J. Morgan, age 81, a former resident of rural Haskell, OK, took her heavenly wings, in Tulsa, OK on February 2, 2023.
Alma June (Hawkins) Morgan, 81, of Haskell, OK has completed her journey in this life; she is with her heavenly father. She was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, daughter and sister.
Alma June was born June 11, 1941 in Okmulgee County, OK to Elmer Homer and Elnora Eleanor (Charles) Hawkins, and was the youngest of five children. She was a graduate of Liberty Morris High School, Morris, OK with the Class of 1961.
Alma June loved the Lord. She was a disciple of Christ who raised her family with the adoration of the Lord. She loved her family and enjoyed attending to and caring for them. She ensured they ate well, were well dressed, and had all the love and care they needed. She ensured they ate well and understood responsibility and discipline by having her children help her plant, care for, and harvest the vegetable garden. She also had them help care for the farm animals like the guinea hens, turkeys, chickens, pigs, and cattle. She was so caring that she made pets out of many farm animals and even had a pet squirrel or two. Alma June was a seamstress who made sure her family was well dressed by tailoring their clothing. She tailored many Easter suits. Her love of cooking was not only enjoyed by her family but the general public as well. She began working at Piccadilly as a prep cook and worked through the ranks to become a dietary manager. In her leisure time, she found pleasure in putting together puzzles. Alma June loved life and enjoyed taking a hands-on approach!
She leaves in God's care her loving husband of 62 years, Lawrence W. Morgan, Sr. of Haskell, Oklahoma; two daughters, Lenora (Quinn) Jones of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Jan Morgan-Billingslea of Mableton, Georgia; brother, George (Judy) Hawkins and sister Erma Taylor, both of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Elnora Hawkins; her sons, Lawrence Walter Morgan, Jr., Darron Anthony Morgan and Derwin (Dale) Alan Morgan.
A Home Going Celebration will be conducted, Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. in the Precious Memories Chapel of House of Winn Funeral Home-Muskogee. With Pastor Martin Lang, eulogizing. Interment will follow in Cane Creek cemetery, Boynton, OK. Public visitation, Friday, Feb. 10th in Precious Memories Chapel-Muskogee, during the hours of 1:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M.
The family has been cared for by House of Winn Funeral Home-Muskogee.
