August 16, 1978 – May 1, 2025
Anju Hitchye, affectionately known as "Ju Ju," passed away peacefully on May 1, 2025, at Corner Stone Specialty Hospital, at the age of 46. Her generous spirit, kind heart, and radiant smile touched the lives of many, and her memory will be cherished forever.
Born on August 16, 1978, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, Anju was a proud native of the city that shaped her into the vibrant woman she became. She began her education at Ben Franklin Elementary, where she attended from kindergarten through sixth grade. She continued at West High for middle school and graduated from Muskogee High School in 1996. Always striving for more, Anju went on to attend Langston University from 1996 to 1999, embracing her education and building lifelong friendships.
Anju dedicated much of her professional life to serving and caring for others. She worked at Muskogee County Head Start, where her love for children and community truly shined. Most recently, she served as a Veterans Claims Processor for the Department of Veterans Affairs, where she took great pride in supporting those who served our country.
Above all, Anju was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She is survived by her loving mother, Debra Hitchye; her brother, Glenn Marcus Hitchye Jr.; and her three beloved children: Jerel Bryars Jr., Jailan Bryars, and Jailea Bryars. Her children were the center of her world, and she poured her heart into raising them with love, strength, and grace.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ruby and Claude Hitchye, Clara Booker, and Rudolph Pierce, as well as her father, Glenn Marcus Hitchye.
Anju's warmth, resilience, and light-hearted humor made her unforgettable. Her love continues to live on in the lives of those she touched, especially her children, who carry forward her legacy.
