Obituary

Archie Clayton Overstreet was born on June 2, 1939, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma from the union of Delia Powell Overstreet and Ben Overstreet Sr. At an early age, Archie accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and was baptized at New Salem Baptist Church in Okmulgee.  Archie was united in marriage to Gloria Dean Parker on June 25, 1966 in Stigler, Oklahoma.  To this union, three children were born and three children were adopted.  He was a loyal husband, brother, dad, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many.

Archie grew up in Okmulgee, where he attended Okmulgee Public Schools, graduating from Dunbar High School with the Class of 1959. While at Dunbar High School, he participated in the Marching Band.

Archie worked in Tulsa, Oklahoma most of his adult life as a laborer of construction. He led many teams of young construction workers with his skilled hands as he taught them the importance of hard work.  He was mentor on many job sites and a well known brick layer.  His last labor of love was one of the most memorial jobs, Oklahoma State University Tulsa Campus.  He laid down his favorite tools and began his retirement after 42 years of dedicated services.

Archie was a member of New Salem Baptist Church for over 50 plus years. He served faithfully as a choir member, building engineer, and bus driver.   He loved his church, the pastor, and members.

Archie Clayton Overstreet, in his 79 th year, peaceful transitioned into eternal peace after fighting a 10-year battle against cancer.  He went home to be with the Lord on February 20, 2019 while in his home in Okmulgee.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Ben Overstreet Jr, his brother Alfred Overstreet, and his sister Yvonne Overstreet Bryant.

Archie leaves his loving wife of 52 years, Gloria Dean Parker Overstreet and their children Marcus Darnell (Saydelease) Overstreet, Sherri Denise Overstreet, and James Reid (Lisa) Overstreet, all of Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Archie and Gloria's bonus children are Kyria Blair Overstreet, Angel Jones Overstreet, and Joseph Murphy Overstreet. He leaves behind his sister Gladys Foshee of Jenks, Oklahoma; Precious grandchildren, Isaac Joseph Babb, Bailey Ann Overstreet, Amelyia Blair Longoria, Sheena Sha'Nay Lewis, Sa'Quita Danielle Lewis, and Spencer Bell Lewis; Dearest great-grandchildren, Alina Ann Babb, Camryn DeShae Fuller, Dwoodson Fredrick Fuller, Emanuel Ulysses Fuller, Kiondra DeShay Turner, Nickolas Shawn Lewis, Jourdon Kentel Lewis, and Courtney Renee Lewis.  One great-great granddaughter Nicole Danielle Lynn Lewis.  Lastly but never forgotten a caravan of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and dear friends that will cherish his loving memory.

A Home Gong Service is scheduled Saturday, February 23, 2019, 10:00 a.m., First Baptist Church, 311 W. 5th St, Okmulgee, OK; interment to follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Beggs, OK.

Visitation, Friday 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
