Ms Audrey L. Ward, age 87, a long time resident of Muskogee
passed away, Tuesday, July 8, 2014 in Broadway Manor Nursing Home.
Friday May 27, 1927, in Muskogee County, Oklahoma, happiness and joy filled the home and hearts of the late Howard Ward, Sr. and Mary Ward when God blessed them with a baby girl. She became the apple of their eyes, and in agreement, they named her Audrey Lorraine Ward. Audrey became known in and around her family/friends as Sister Baley, Aunt Audrey and Auntie.
Audrey graduated from Jordan High School, Los Angeles, California. Some of Auntie's favorite past times (hobbies) were sewing, baking, crocheting, as well as collecting cookbooks.
Upon returning to Oklahoma from California, Sister Ward united with the First missionary Baptist Church. She was an active and faithful member until her health began to fail. Auntie was an advocate Sunday Church School participant; served as President of the Women's Mission for several years; Deborah Circle, and a sponsor of the youth's Star-Light Band. Sister Ward was blessed to be granted the title by God as the "Senior (oldest) Member" of the First Missionary Church until the day He called her home. She loved God, her church and her family.
