Barbara (Grizzard) Freeman the oldest child of JB Grizzard and Ceola (Carrethers) Walls transitioned from her earthly home to her eternal home June 17, 2022. Barbara was born May 16, 1956 in Pierce Oklahoma to JB Grizzard and Ceola Carrethers. Barbara was raised and nurtured in the home of her mother and stepfather Argenal (Gentry) Walls and also when she visited her father JB Grizzard and stepmother (Patricia Grizzard). Barbara accepted Christ as her savior at an early age and joined Checotah Eastside First Baptist Church .

Barbara graduated from Checotah High School in 1974, after graduation she moved to Oklahoma City where she became a daycare provider for several years until her health began to fail.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Anthony Freeman, her parents JB Grizzard and Ceola Walls and stepfather Argenal (Gentry) Walls, brothers Marlow Walls and Robert Lee, grandson Jeremy Carter Jr., granddaughter Larrissa Grizzard, nephew Argeneal Stevenson, great niece Avril Stephenson, cousin Christin Sledge and a close family friend Laura Bullock.

Barbara leaves to cherish her memory a loving daughter Reese Carter of Checotah, sons Larry Grizzard and Anthony Grizzard, step children Jose and Tiesha Freeman all of Oklahoma City, sisters Jackelyn Pearson (Adolph), Cheryl Arledge (Tommy), Sandra Wales (Dean), Kristy Finley (Jeff) all of Oklahoma City, Cleda Keddington (Brooks) of Tulsa, brothers James Grizzard of Arizona, Kevin  Grizzard (Yolonda) of Oklahoma City, Kenneth Grizzard (Charece) of South Carolina, son-in-law Jeremy Carter Sr, 30 grandchildren 2 great grandchildren, a host of special nieces, nephews, other friends and relatives.

A Home Going Celebration will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Freewill Baptist Church, 713 N Broadway St, Checotah, OK. Interment will follow at Paradise Cemetery, Checotah, OK. Visitation will be on Friday, July 1, 2022, in the Precious Memories Chapel, House of Winn Funeral Home-Muskogee, during the hours of 1:00 pm. until 6:00 p.m.
