Obituary

Bennie Alonzo Carter was born January 10, 1946 in Grayson, Oklahoma to Rhuya Evelyn Crisp and Willie Carter Jr. He received his formal education at Grayson High School. Bennie was good with numbers, loved mathematics, dominoes, sports (especially The Oklahoma Sooners) tutoring young people and watching cowboy pictures. He attended college at Langston University in Langston, Oklahoma. On April 23, 1965 he was united in marriage to Cheryl Diane Easley. To this union two children were born. Bennie was employed at Ball brothers in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He moved to California where he worked as a typesetter in a publishing company before returning to Oklahoma.

HE was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mariann Richardson and Brothers Fred Lewis, Jerry Lewis and Alfred Carter.

He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Tracy Carter of Grayson, OK, and Johnathan John (Cassandra) of Oklahoma City, OK; Daughters Telisha Carter of Bedford, TX and Lisa Masedo (Oscar) of San Diego, CA. Six Grandchildren and Two Great-Grandchildren. Brothers Clarence Crisp (Mary) of Oklahoma City, Wilbur Crisp (Lois) of Grayson, OK, Leonard Dobbins and Richard Dobbins of Oklahoma City. Sisters Joyce Carter and Visher Shinault (Mark) of Oklahoma City. A host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Relatives and Friends.

Also cherishing his memory is Vanessa Jones of the home and her children Emmika Jones of Tulsa, OK, Rontori Jones (Calese) of Tulsa, OK. Thelma Jones of Oklahoma City and Ronbrose Jones (Jennifer) of Yukon, OK and Fifteen grandchildren.


A Home Going Service is scheduled, Friday, January 19, 2018, 3:00 p.m., Union Baptist Church, Grayson, OK; with Rev. Raymond Tucker, eulogizing.

Visitation will be Thursday, 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Cremation to follow after the Funeral Service.
