Obituary

Mrs. Berdie Willis, age 75, a resident of Okmulgee,OK
transitioned, Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015 OSU Medical Center, Tulsa, OK.

"As we reflect…..we remember the book of life was opened on May 20, 1939 for Berdie Cross Willis". Berdie was the eldest of four children born to Harry Cross Jr. and Elsie Louise Norman in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Her entire life was spent here in the City of Okmulgee where she attended Okmulgee Public Schools.

Berdie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She became a member of Shorter Chapel A.M.E. Church and was a faithful member. She enjoyed serving as a Stewardess and pianist for many years. Berdie was employed for 17 years with Langston University as an Extension Aide. She was also a House Supervisor for 14 years at Central State University. Berdie was a Com-dress with Eastern Star in Muskogee, Oklahoma.

Berdie was preceded in death by her Father, Harry Cross Jr., Husband, Walter (Sonny Boy) Willis, Son, Kevin Wayne Willis, Brother, Harry Cross III, and grandmother, Annie Nash.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories a loving Daughter, Claudia Ann Fordham, Son, Darryl Van Willis, two sisters, Norma A. McDaniel, Okmulgee, OK, Pastor Carolyn Gill, Tulsa, OK, one brother,Don Lavant Cross, Oklahoma City, OK; sister in law, Vera Faye Willis, three loving grandchildren, Jeremy Fordham, Tiffany Willis, Latasha Thomas, one aunt, Mary Thompson of Bakersfield, CA, four loving devoted cousins, L.D. Childress, Michael McCurdy, both of Okmulgee, OK; Ralph Hooks, Tulsa, OK; Barbara Lynn of Brandy Wine, MD; a host nieces, nephews and numerous extended family and friends.

A Home Going Celebration will be conducted Saturday, February 28, 2015, 11:00 a.m., Shorter Chapel A.M.E. Church, 405 North Central, Okmulgee, OK. Interment will be Monday, March 2, 2015, 12 noon in Ft. Gibson National Cemetery, Ft. Gibson, OK.

Visitation will be Friday, 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
