Obituary

Bernadine Johnson Jenkins the beloved daughter of Ary and Earline Johnson was born on December 26, 1940 in Olympia, near Morris, OK. She was the first of six children born from this loving union.

Bernadine also known as "Bonnie" was raised in Osage Avenue Christian Church and accepted the Lord as her personal Savior as a young girl. She was a faithful servant. While growing up in her home church she served as the church assistant treasurer and secretary.

Bonnie obtained her education in Okmulgee, OK where she attended Attucks, Banneker and the Historical Dunbar High School, graduating class of 1960. She obtained her Culinary Arts degree from Okmulgee Tech. Her degree and love of cooking gave her an enjoyed career as a cook with Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK where she retired.


Bonnie met and then married Clenton Matthew Jenkins on June 23, 1960 and to this union, one son was born that she loved dearly. She loved family gatherings where her beautiful smile and laughter was joyous to be around and will truly be missed.

In the quiet hours on January 6, 2018, Bernadine Johnson Jenkins after 77 years with us, slipped the bonds of this earthly realm unto eternity in Hillcrest South Hospital in Tulsa, OK. She is preceded in death by her parents Ary and Earline Johnson; siblings Velma Delores McGee, Eva Charlene Smith and Shirley B. Johnson.

She leaves in God's care to cherish her memory; her son Clenton Matthew Jenkins Jr Portland, OR; one brother Ary Johnson Jr. (Kathleen) Morris, OK, one sister Deborah Kay Coleman (Marcus) Tulsa, OK; four grandkids Demond Johnson, Clenton Jenkins III, Caleb J Sherman and Trina Little; 2 great grandkids, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins friends; a special niece Aldora Mondragon and 2 special friends Robert Williams of Tulsa, OK and Rita Pierce of Portland, OR .

A Home Going service is scheduled Saturday, January 13, 2018, 1:00 p.m. Mt. Calvary Apostolic Church, 1004 N. Osage Ave, Okmulgee, Ok., with Pastor Charles Williams eulogizing.  Interment will follow in Okmulgee Cemetery, Okmulgee, Ok.

Visitation will be Friday, 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

The family has been cared for by House of Winn Funeral Home.
