On March 18, 1937 a baby boy was born to J.T. and Janie Mae Parker. They named him Bert. Bert grew up in Taft, Oklahoma.

Bert attended school at Moton. Bert was united in Holy Matrimony to Helen Joyce, to which two children were born, Derrick and Kenny Parker.

Bert eventually moved to California, he returned back to Taft. He was so determined to get back to his roots that he hitchhiked back to Taft in 1983 from the state of California to Oklahoma. What a story he had to tell each and every one of us about this adventure.

Bert was the first guy in the community of Taft, Oklahoma to wear dreadlocks and bring the Bob Marley look. He was the life of any family get togethers. He was known to most as "Bird Dog".

He never met a stranger, Bert loved you unconditionally. Bert always had time for his nieces, nephews, and any other children in the community.

After 83 years on earth, Bert was called home to be with his Savior. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sone Derrick; a daughter, Sandra (Pepper); one grandson, Joy Lee; one granddaughter, Keonna; 5 siblings, Fayetta, Henry, Rhonda, Deloyce, and Rayella.

Bert Francis Parker leaves to cherish his memory: one son, Kenny Parker; one granddaughter, Iranne Campbell; four brothers, Joe Curtis (Bobbie), Theodore (Allene), Howard Lee (Renee), and Odell Parker (Sarah); three sisters, Bobbie Lee, Janice Bowler, and Patricia Newton; also a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Public Visitation, Friday, Nov. 6, 2020 in the Precious Memories Chapel at House of Winn Funeral Home during the hours of 1:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. followed by cremation.
