Billy Gene Beasley, son of the late Arthur and Minnie Lee Jones Beasley was born on May 10, 1940 in Summit, Oklahoma. He was the third child born to this union. On Thursday, June 4, 2015 he transitioned from this life with his sister by his side.
Billy Gene accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age at First Baptist Church Summit and rededicated his life to Christ at Old Agency Baptist Church where he was a member until his death.
Billy Gene grew up in Summit, Oklahoma and attended Du Bois Grade and Junior High School prior to his entrance and matriculation through the historic Manual Training High School in 1958. Billy Gene was an excellent football and basketball player. He earned the name "Dupree". At an early age he started working construction in Wichita, Kansas. Later, he joined the U.S. Army in 1963 serving two years as a wheel and track mechanic; 17 years in the Army Reserves. He attended Connors Community College majoring in Criminal Law, Criminal Evidence and Public Speaking. Billy Gene married Cora Belle Thomas on March 16, 1968 and to this union a daughter, Victoria was born. He was also blessed with a son, Victor Beasley Beard.
Billy Gene was a dedicated worker at Functions, twenty-seven years as a Laborer for the Corps of Engineers and Abernathy's Lawn Service.
Billy Gene was a kind, devoted husband, a loving father, brother, uncle, nephew and cousin. He had a deep passion for food, reading and watching westerns, riding his horse, listening to Blues music and spending time with his family. He was a caring person to all who made contact with him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother, and one sister.
He leaves to cherish his memories, two children, Victor Beasley (Sylvia) Beard, Broken Arrow, OK; Victoria Beasley (Donald) Robison, Columbus, OH; three brothers, Isaac (Sharon) Beasley, Milwaukee, WI; Alfred John (Vanilla) Beasley, Wichita, KS; Rev. Clifford (Gwenell) Beasley, Columbus, OH; seven sisters, Vernice (Roosevelt Sr.) Frazier, Muskogee, OK; Louise Smith, Grand Prairie, TX; Celestine Murray, Benton Harbor, MI; Annie Brooks, Wichita, KS; Betty Childers, Grand Prairie, TX; Brenda Richardson, Wichita, KS; Machelle Conner, Oxnard, CA; four special great-grandchildren, Ja'Niyah, Nyasia, Jamal II, and Jordan and a host of nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, three special friends, Robert Threats, Prince McJunkins, and Howard Abernathy along with a host of other family and friends. "Billy B" or "Dupree" as he was known by many will be missed by all who knew him.
A Home Going Celebration will be conducted Saturday, June 13, 2015, 11:00 a.m., Rayfield Baptist Church, 601 Indianapolis Street, Muskogee, OK; with Rev. Clifford Beasley, Sr. eulogizing. Interment will be Monday, June 15, 2015, 10:00 a.m., Ft. Gibson National Cemetery, Ft. Gibson, OK; with military honors performed by Ft. Sill Honors team.
Visitation will be Friday, 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
The family has been cared for by Granger-House of Winn Funeral Home.
