Billy Joe Taylor was born July 28, 1956 to Fred and Juanita (Pete) Taylor in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.
Billy Joe attended Okmulgee Public Schools in Okmulgee, OK: and graduated with the class of 1974. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country honorably until he was discharged. Billy was well known in Okmulgee as one of Fred Taylor's boys. Billy Joe was known for his good heart and affectionate smile.
He professed a love for Christ at Christ Evangelist Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where he attended for many years.
On Friday, August 9, 2024 Billy answered the Master's call and left his earthly home for his eternal home.
Preceding him in death were his parents, four brothers, Norvell, Willie Ray, Anthony and Robert Taylor.
Billy Joe leaves to cherish his memory, five sisters, Brenda (Harry) Dean, Elnita Taylor, Freddie (Claude Jr.) Forte, Lois (Gerald) and Sharon Evans, three brothers, Ronnie, John Wesley, Danny (Melody) Evans and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends that will miss him.
A Home Going Service is scheduled Friday, August 23, 2024, 12 noon, House of Winn Funeral Home, 607 East Fifth Street, Okmulgee, OK. Interment will follow in Ft. Gibson National Cemetery, Ft. Gibson, OK. Military honors will be performed by US Naval Honors team.
Visitation will be Thursday, 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
