Carl Jean Brooks, Sr. was born February 28, 1928 in Okmulgee, OK; to the union of Epp and Virginia (Johnson) Brooks.
Carl was educated at Dubois School in Summit, OK; and later attended Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology-Okmulgee where he received an auto mechanic degree.
Carl met and united in holy matrimony to Lucy A. Jester on June 29, 1948 and to this union ten boys and five girls were born.
"Chub" as he was affectionately called by his friends and family worked in construction, an electrician and a warehouseman. He worked in Wichita, KS; until he was injured in 1963. He moved back to Oklahoma to recuperate. Carl developed passion for farming and his tractor.
Carl was a member of Church of the Living God in Muskogee, OK; under the direction of Pastor Elder Mitchell and later, he reunited with First Baptist Church, Summit, OK. Carl was a founder and advocate of The Food for Children program, which First Baptist honored with his name. He was installed as Deacon in 1991 by Rev. Woodfork. Carl went to work at District 3 County of Muskogee until he retired to care for his wife, Lucy that became ill and later passed away.
On April 7, 2010, Carl reunited with his childhood love, Lucille, and entered into holy matrimony. They were devoted to each other until his passing, December 2, 2016.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, wife of sixty years, Lucy, all of his siblings, three sons, (twins) Arnold & Arnie and Pico and a great-granddaughter, Aniyah.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of nearly seven years, Lucille, of the home, seven sons, Allen, Tulsa, OK; Carl (Anna) Joplin, MO; Percy, Wichita, KS; Hodges, Miami, FL; Billy (Irma), Wichita, KS; Jesse (LaTricia), Wichita, KS and Robert (Summer) Oak Cliff, TX; five daughters, Zolla, Muskogee, OK; Flora, Tulsa, OK; Lula B., Midlothian, TX; Kimberly, Muskogee, OK; and Arlesha, Grand Prairie, TX; special relatives, Cephas (Mattie), Wichita, KS; Mayo (Colleen), Tulsa, OK; special friends, Robert Moham, Nathan Walker, John Walker and Herman Capps, along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Home Going Service is scheduled for Saturday, December 10, 2016, 2:00 p.m., Timothy Baptist Church, 5530 W. Okmulgee Ave., Muskogee, OK; with Rev. Charles Moore, First Baptist Church-Summit, delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery, Oktaha, OK.
Visitation will be Friday, 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
