Obituary

Carol Jane Tate was born to Ray and Olivia Teague Shivers on June 24, 1942 in Mexico, MO. She went home to be with the Lord June 20, 2012 at 10:45am at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Carol attended Garfield Grade School and graduated from Mexico High School in 1960. Shortly after, she united with James Tate Sr. and moved to Oklahoma. To this union five children were born, daughters: Robbin Phillips of Okmulgee and Sharon Broadus (Sam Jr.) of Oklahoma City and sons: Kevin Tate (Maxine) of Okmulgee and James Tate (Amy Sinor) of Beggs.
Carol began her adult life as a head start teacher. Shortly after that she retired to become a loving housewife and devoted mother. She accepted Christ at an early age and followed in her mother's footsteps by taking on the duties of deaconess. It was one of her most cherished commitments along with helping raise her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She volunteered for Prayer Before The Bell where she attended church at Conversion Ministry. She was also vice president of Women of Christ (WOC) and gave her time to the multicultural program until her health would no longer permit her to do so.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Charolette Wall, two brothers: Henry and Donald Shivers and one son, Clinton Tate. She is survived by her husband, 4 children, 22 grandchildren, 16 great-great grandchildren, 1 sister Mildred Goodwin, 2 brothers: Isaac Shivers and James Shivers and a host of nieces, nephews and a special friend Wanda Williams

A homegoing celebration will be conducted Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 11am. First Baptist Church Central Church 521 North Central Avenue Okmulgee, OK. Pastor Greg Richardson will serve as eulogist.

Visitation will be Friday, June 29, 2012 from 1-6pm.
