Carolyn Delois
Love
March 11, 1952 – March 4, 2021
It is with great joy that the family of Carolyn D. Love announce that God in his loving faithfulness has graciously allowed her a safe journey from earthly labor to her heavenly reward, on Thursday, March 4, 2021 in her 68 th year.
Carolyn, a beautiful and precious baby girl was born March 11, 1952 in Tulsa, OK, to Minnie Marie Brady and Henry Lloyd Love. She was lovingly called "Lois," "Aunt LoLo," "Delois," "Ms. Love" and later "Momma and Grams." Carolyn accepted Christ as her savior early in life and as an adult she rededicated her commitment. She Fellowshipped with Okay Baptist Church and Central Missionary Baptist Church.
She attended elementary school in Wagoner, OK, public school in Okay, OK and Manual Training, Muskogee, OK. She was always a studious child and took her schooling seriously. Carolyn could be found studying words, challenging other to speak the correct English with correct noun and verb agreement. It is fitting that in 1976 she graduated from Indian Capital Vo-Tech her first nursing school where she served as the Parliamentarian. Carolyn continued her nursing education at Bacone College in Muskogee, OK where she was on the Dean's honor roll. She successfully became the first Registered Nurse in her family's history. She inspired so many to enter nursing including her sisters, Candice, Patricia, nieces: LaNise, Robin, Shavonna and many more. Once again she dug in and pursued a higher degree in nursing at Northeastern University, Tahlequah, OK. Carolyn was a gifted and skillful nurse, a compassionate nursing instructor. She was a member of many organizations, committees and Black Nurse Organization. She was employed at the Veteran's Medical Center, Muskogee, OK for years working diligently in the emergency department often times the only person caring for the patient! She worked for seventeen years at Muskogee General Hospital. Her love for people landed her as supervisor in the obstetrics department at Muskogee General Hospital and sometimes worked beside her faithful cousin Pricilla Jackson. Many babies she helped to deliver and name and wittingly nickname. Her certifications included ACLS and Oncology nursing. She worked as the Nurse Manager on the Medical/Surgical/Oncology/Cardiac unit. Carolyn helped friends to start up home health agencies, she loved to travel so she took on a few travelling nurse assignments in other states. She loved challenges in nursing and when she had the opportunity to lead the medical clinic at Jess Dunn Correctional Center she did so with great compassion, confidence and confidentiality. She continued her Oklahoma state employment for 10 more years as nursing instructor in the Vo-Tech system from where she retired. She loved her students and she would offer free tutoring and a no slacking off attitude. After retirement she worked to set up a local adult day center and she volunteered at a local free clinic. She loved to talk nursing and medicine in general. It is not shocking that in her last 24 hours of departing from here to heaven she was teaching in details about her little niece's heart surgery.
Carolyn was blessed to have one biological daughter, Cynthia L. Grayson. She and little Cynthia were inseparable. They traveled the sunny beaches, cold snow topped mountains, deep canyons and caves. They had each other's back and hit the roads or the sky to Jamaica or Germany, Branson, Colorado, the southern states, the northern states. Then the grandchildren came and nothing could come between her and those five. Her grandchildren have been such a great source of joy in her life. She loved and spoiled them and they did the same for her! She was at football, basketball, baseball, softball games and graduations cheering them on. She then wrapped her loving affection on her great-grandchildren and Ms. Love continued to shower love upon others.
To Cindy she left a message, "My daughter never forget how much I love you. As you grow older you will face many challenges in life. Just do your best. I might not be with you but know that I believe in you. You were and always will be the BEST THING that ever happened to me, Love Momma!"
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 2 sister, along with a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
She leaves to cherish her memory and legacy her daughter, Cynthia L. Grayson. Three grandsons, Sidney Grayson, Sid'trell Grayson, Keondr'e Davis, her precious granddaughter, Kiar'a Davis.
