Obituary

Caryl Arlene Taylor-Hanson passed away peacefully after a very brief illness on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at St. John's Hospital. She was born on April 9 th , 1958 in Okmulgee, OK, to the late Dr. and Mrs. Robert B. (Caryl Vickers) Taylor, Jr. She graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1976.  She received an Associate's degree in Commercial Arts from OSU Tech, a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Nazarene University in 1997 and Master's degree from the same university in 1999.

Caryl was baptized in the First Presbyterian Church and remained a member for several years until moving permanently to Tulsa. Recently, she had been attending services at the First Baptist Church South.

Caryl worked at the Department of Human Services for the State of Oklahoma, retiring in 2015. After retiring, she worked as a Para-Teacher at Thoreau Middle School in Tulsa and gained a loving relationship with her students and faculty. In addition, she worked seasonally with H&R Block. During her high school years, she was active in Mary Finley's Glee Club and worked on the Torchlight yearbook.  She was elected to Girls' State in Oklahoma City and was an honor student in high school and college.

During the time Caryl attended OSU Tech, she developed a love for art, painting pictures that have graced the walls in her sister, Robin's, her daughter, Elise's, and her mother's homes for years. Caryl designed and created many program invitations for her dear friend, Dr. Tina Kidd and her mother, Pearl.

Caryl was a voracious knitter, designing beautiful scarves, hats, socks, mitts and dish cloths which many of her family members will enjoy for years to come.

Caryl was a very private person and never shared much of her life, but we loved and respected her for the daughter, sister, mother and grandmother she was. She knew we loved her dearly and were always supportive of her choices.

Caryl was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Robert B. Taylor, Jr., grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Robert B. Taylor, Sr., and her husband Dwight Hanson. She also leaves to mourn her loss a beloved son, Eric Robert (Dawn) Williams, a cherished daughter, Elise Marie Valentine (Richard), and 2 beautiful grandchildren, Kinsley Marie Valentine and Tyson Robert Valentine, loving mother, Caryl V.
