Obituary

Charles D'Wayne Talton

"HAWK"

On a beautiful Tuesday morning, August 23rd, 1960, a handsome bouncing baby boy was born to Nannye & Charles Talton.  They named him Charles D'Wayne Talton, affectionately called "Charlie Hawk" by most.

Charlie accepted Christ into his heart at an early age and began a lifelong personal relationship with him.  Charlie was a member of Osage Ave Christian Church his entire life.

Charlie attended Okmulgee Public Schools and proudly graduated with the Class of 1978. He held many jobs after high school, including restaurant cook, scaffolding laborer, daycare bus driver, and handyman.

Charlie's love for Mary Stallings was the cornerstone of his life. Although they never had children of their own, they poured their love and care into their nieces, nephews, and any child in the neighborhood who needed it. Their love knew no bounds, and they never missed a moment in the lives of those they cared for.

Charlie, with his infectious smile and loving personality, was loved by all his family and friends and will be deeply missed.

Charles D'Wayne Talton made his Earthly departure to begin his eternal walk into Heaven on October 15th, 2024, from Council Oak Hospital in Tulsa,  Oklahoma, surrounded by his immediate family who never left his side.

Charlie was greeted into Heaven by his one true love, Mary Stallings; parents, Nannye and Charles Talton; eldest Sister Janice Holloway, twin brothers Ronald and Randall Talton, and niece Kimberly Lyons.

Those left to cherish his memory include; Sisters Deborah O'Guin & Colette Talton; Brother Nathan Griffin; Uncle Gaye (Leatrice) Talton; Aunts Verna Cole, Pattsy Parker & Deborah (Michael) Ibe as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Service of Memory is scheduled, Thursday, October 24, 2024, 1:00 p.m., St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church, 1001 E. Chicago Street, Okmulgee, OK; with Rev. Charles Williams, eulogizing.  Inurnment will follow at Okmulgee Cemetery.

The family had been cared for by House of Winn-Okmulgee
