Charles Ray Woodruff was born on March 25, 1924 to Ulysses and Fletcher (Lampkin) Woodruff in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He was the first of five children born to this union.
He graduated from Grayson High School in Grayson, Oklahoma. Later on he moved to Akron, Ohio with his brother John and stepsister Sara.
He was employed at B.F. Goodrich Tire and Rubber company. He was drafted into the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. He returned to his job at B.F. Goodrich where he resumed his duties.
Charles accepted Christ at an early age. He attended Northwest Baptist Church.
He was married to Sadie Woodruff and two children were born to this union.
After retiring from B.F. Goodrich, he returned to Okmulgee, OK; to care for his father, Ulysses and his brother, Arnold until their subsequent passing.
He loved living in the country, raising chickens and ducks and enjoyed relaxing on his front porch.
He would always say, "I'm just a good old country boy".
During his illness, his brother Ulysses, his cousin Kenneth and his son Charles, Jr. were his special care givers.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, John and Arnold, sister, Lorene Ross, the love of his life, Minnie Lee Morgan, and ex-wife, Sadie Mae Rosalie Woodruff, two stepchildren, Kenneth L. Merriweather and Erma J. Owens.
He leaves to mourn, two sons, James Earl Woodruff (Zondra), Haskell, OK; and Charles Woodruff, Jr. (Chuckey), Akron, OH; one daughter, Pamela Woodruff, and stepdaughter, Wendy E. Corbin, brothers, Ulysses, Okmulgee, OK; and Jerry, Houston, TX; five sisters, Leola(Charles), Kansas City, MO; Beatrice (Bishop Thomas) Smith, Jr., Tulsa, OK; Darline, Bridgeport, CT; Jerline, Houston, TX; and Sara, Lamarque, TX; sister-in-law, Minnie Woodruff, Akron, OH; his grandchildren and a host of relatives, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Home Going Celebration is scheduled Saturday, February 13, 2016, 11:00 a.m., Northwest Chapel Baptist Church, 10455 Smith Rd., Okmulgee, OK; with Rev. Leroy Crawford, eulogizing. Interment will follow in Northwest Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
