Charlie Edwards, 74, Public School Transit Supervisor, Tulsa, OK formerly of Muskogee, OK; transitioned Wednesday, December 30, 2015.
On December 30, 2015, God called Brother Charlie Edwards from labor to rewards. Friends and Family knew him by Benny, he was born on July 3, 1941 in Summit, OK. His parents were Nettie Edwards Burrell and Eugene Allen Burrell. At an early age, he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into his life. He was a very kind person, always helping others with a big smile.
After graduating from Manual Training High School, Benny enlisted in the U.S. Army and later attended 2 years' college. He worked for Muskogee Public Schools for many years until retiring as Assistant Transportation Director. He was a very dependable person and hard worker always providing for his family.
Benny leaves to cherish is memories, wife of 35 years Susetta Maxwell Edwards; one daughter Charlene (Cornelius); 4 granddaughters who all loved and cared for him, Destiny, Raven, Angel and Heaven Edwards, all of Tulsa, OK; 5 sisters, Wynema McGee, Lillian McCary, Silvia Miller all of Denver, CO, Mattie Tucker, Oklahoma City, OK, LeAnna Kirk and one brother, Larry Burrell (Robin) all of Okemah, OK; 5 sister-in-law's, Minister Odessa Clark, JoAnn Powell, Janice Scott (Michael) all of Muskogee, OK, LaDonna Wilks (Charles) Summit, OK, Darlene Russell (Jim) Wagoner, OK, Annie Harris (Kevin), Omaha, NE; 1 brother-in-law, Ernest Maxwell Jr. (Angela), Taft, OK and a caravan of friends and family who loved him.
A Home Going Service will be conducted, Thursday, January 7, 2016, 10:00 a.m., House of Winn Funeral Home & Cremations, chapel. Interment will follow in Ft. Gibson National Cemetery, Ft. Gibson, OK; with military honors performed by Ft. Sill honors team.
Visitation will be Wednesday, 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
