Christine Johnson-Wiley left this natural life and entered into Eternal life on Saturday
November 4, 2017. She was 90 years old. Christine was born in Waldo AR; on
November 25, 1926 to Dock and Dester Johnson, where she was the youngest of three
children. She moved, with her family, to Haskell, OK; in 1937 at the age of 11 years old.
In Haskell she attended and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. Her
parents raised her in a loving Christian home where she was baptized at an early age at
Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Haskell. After moving to Muskogee, OK; in 1965 she joined
Wards Chapel A.M.E. Church and remained a member until her homegoing.
Upon graduation from high school Christine attended Langston University where she
met her future husband, Clarence Wayne Wiley of El Reno, OK. To this union six
children were born, with the addition of three step-children for a "Nine Wiley" total.
After making sure all of her children attended college and graduated – she returned to college along
with her children to finish her Bachelors and Masters Degree in Education at
Northeastern State University. Christine Wiley was employed for over 35 years with the
Oklahoma Department of Human Services, being personally hired by DHS legendary
Director Lloyd Rader.
Christine was very active in her church and community, having served as church
secretary/treasurer, cook, choir member, and Sunday school teacher. Zeta Phi Beta was
her sorority of choice. Other organizations of involvement were - Helping Hands,
Habitat for Humanity, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Herons of Jericho. She was
also a proud supporting member, of the Muskogee Chapter, of the Langston University
-National Alumni Association. She was known for her delicious "Pound Cakes", and
for over forty years was the "Queen of Avon" sales in Muskogee.
Christine Wiley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Preceding her in death were her parents Dock and Dester Johnson; Husband-Clarence Wayne Wiley; Son-
Christopher; Daughter-Charlotte; Son- Tommy; and Brothers- Claude and Floyd
Johnson.
She leaves to cherish her memory, children- Sundra Wiley-Everly; Dr. Clarence L. (Cynthia)
Wiley; Janice (Leon) Sample; Rev. Dr. Stephen L. (Pamela) Wiley; Floyd W. Wiley; Donald
(Deborah) Austin-Wiley; Daughter-in-law Mary Wiley; Son-in-law Joseph Mitchell;
Sister-in-law Anna Johnson; Sister-in-law Dixie Johnson.
She also leaves behind twenty four (24) grandchildren, thirty-seven (37) great-grand
children, two (2) great-great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews,
cousins and friends that will miss her dearly.
A Memorial Service is scheduled Saturday, November 11, 2017, 11:00 a.m., Antioch Church of Muskogee, 500 W. Broadway, Muskogee, OK.
