Obituary

Cornelius Alfred Cope was born to Hortense and Clinton Cope on May 1, 1945 in Muskogee, OK. He was always a very caring, but quiet person who was so full of love. He liked playing guitar and piano and was self-taught on both, working on cars with his father in his auto shop after school and on weekends, loved to read and ride motorcycles, before he nearly lost his life from a motorcycle accident during his college years.  Cornelius, who liked to be called Cornel, even though we mostly called him Uncle Beat, was very studious and always on the Honor Rolls, graduated from Manual Training High School, then went on to attend Langston University and worked at Po Boy's Gas Station, owned by Charles Fields in Oklahoma City.

Throughout life, he remained very close to his sister, Almetrias Humphrey, and after being overwhelmed with grief by her loss, went to join her in the afterlife just 2 short months after her passing.

He is predeceased by older brother Earl Gene Cope, Sr., younger sister Hortense "Evon" Cope Potts, Ametrias LaVerne Humphrey, both parents and his Aunt, Anna Campbell. Being the last of the four children, he is survived by a whole host of family and loved ones that will miss him dearly, but he has helped so many people in general that we will ALL miss him terribly!

A Memorial will be conducted, Sunday, October 31, 2021 at 3:00 P.M. in the Precious Memories Chapel/House of Winn Funeral Home-Muskogee.

MASKS are encouraged at the service.
