Obituary

On March 4, 1986 a baby boy was born in Tulsa, OK to Shalanda Walker and Michael Cherry. He was affectionately named Cortney and to many family and friends simply called, "Cricket".

He attended Boynton-Moton Public School and graduated with the Class of 2004. He furthered his education at Bacone College in Muskogee, OK.

Cricket met his life partner, Denise Townsell, they were blessed with four beautiful children; Cheyenne, Madison, Cortney, Jr., and Caden Walker which he loved dearly. He was  a loving companion, dedicated and proud father. He will be remembered by the love he showed his family and friends.

He was raised and reared in Christian fellowship at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Boynton, OK.

"Cricket" as we all know him, loved his family, loved showing pigs, raising dogs, and riding horses.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Albert Joe Cherry, and aunt, Lori Posey.

He leaves to mourn, his life partner, Denise Townsell of Muskogee, OK, ; his precious children Cheyenne, Madison, Cortney Jr. and Caden Walker; mother, Shalanda Walker (Todd) of Huston, TX; father Michael Cherry of Boynton, OK; grandparents, Leonard and Rose Walker of Muskogee, OK and Lilly Mae Cherry of Boynton, OK; sisters, Roshuanda Walker, Skylar Cherry, Britnee Roberts (Sade') of Texas; brothers, Corey Lang (Yaneliez) of San Antonio, TX, Colby Walker (Candice) of Muskogee, OK; uncles, Tracey Walker, Sr. (Erika) of Yukon, OK, Jack Walker of Tulsa, OK and Carlos (Felicia) Cherry of Wichita, KS; and aunt, Lynette  Fisher of Oklahoma City, OK; a special sister/friend, Sylvia Hollis-Lang; along with a host of nieces, nephews, great aunts, great uncles, cousins, friends, and the dedicated Boynton-Moton Class of 2004.

A Home Going Service is scheduled, Monday, February 12, 2024, 1:00 p.m., Boynton Community Center, 125 N. 1st Street, Boynton, OK; with Pastor William Lang, eulogizing.  The Final View will be at the end of the service on Monday.
