Darnell Mary Buckner, 73, teacher, a resident of Muskogee, OK; passed away, Monday, April 13, 2015 in St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, OK.
Darnell Bonnie Mary Thrower Buckner was born September 17, 1941 to the proud parents of Jack Clarence Thrower I and Selima Plummer Thrower in Frederick, OK.
Darnell attended Frederick Public Schools and she graduated early, from Frederick High School. After her formal education she went on to attend Langston University, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She was decorated as Teacher of the Year.
She met and married, Robert Buckner while attending Langston University.
She professed a love for Christ at an early age. Darnell enjoyed a good sermon.
Darnell enjoyed spending time with family. She was the educator, always willing to teach, whether it be by the book or life's lessons.
Darnell went home to be with the Lord, April 13, 2015.
Preceding her in death are her parents, sister, Betty Jewel Hamilton, brother, Jack Clarence Thrower II, daughter, Sheryl Diane Vinson, a nephew, Jack Clarence Thrower III, and a grandson, Terrance Rashad Buckner.
Those left to cherish Darnell's memories are her daughters, Sharon Denise Kirvn, Sherrie Dionne Buckner, Stephanie Dean Buckner-Jackson, all of Tulsa, OK; and Shanna Deshawn Buckner, Muskogee, OK; brothers, Lonnie Thrower I, and Billy Joel Thrower, nephew, Gerald Dean (Priscilla) Thrower, grandchildren, Darnell Chante` Buckner, Kalisha Katamara Taylor, Evion Madafia Buckner, Ean Gregory Vinson, Alvin Charles Broadnax, Skyler Dewayne Buckner, Matthew Anderson, Quinton Eugene Broadnax, Sidney Desiree Buckner, Amari Danielle Buckner, and a great-grandchild, Serenity Taylor, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will miss her.
A Service of Memory will be conducted Tuesday, April 21, 2015, 11:00 a.m., Granger Colonial Chapel, 812 Emporia Street, Muskogee, OK; with Rev. Jerry Washington, eulogizing. Cremation to follow.
Visitation will be Monday, 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
The family has been cared for by Granger-House of Winn Funeral Home.
