STATEMENT

At this time there will be a PRIVATE family burial

Visitations will be Wednesday, April 1st  and  Thursday, April 2nd, 2020 during the hours of 1:00 P.M.  until  5:00 P.M. in the Precious Memories Chapel of HOUSE OF WINN FUNERAL HOME-MUSKOGEE.

Obituary

On the 11 th day of November 1940, a precious baby boy was born to Junious R. Josey Sr. and Frankie Mae Wafer Josey in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was the only child born to this union. At a young age, the family moved to Kansas City. Delbert received his formal education in Kansas City and Muskogee. He later joined the United States Army and after three years, he met and married Eleanor Josey and to this union two girls were born.

Delbert accepted his call to the gospel ministry in Kansas City at Greater Progressive Baptist Church. He later moved back to Muskogee, Oklahoma and united with the Deans Chapel Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. Donald Dumas.

He pastored several churches in the Muskogee area. In 2004, he became the pastor of the Greater Wilson Chapel Baptist Church in Haskell, Oklahoma. Also in December 2004, he also married Rosie Briggs Harris. Delbert always said that she was the love of his life.

Rev. Josey graduated from Connors State College and earned an Associate Degree. He earned a Bachelor in Pastoral Ministry from the Sure Foundation Theological Institute, he also attended Northeastern State University. He retired from the Muskogee County Jail as a Jailer, and he also had a shoe shine stand in the Court House known as "The Shine Man".

Waiting on his arrival are his mother, his father, his sister and his brother. Leaving to mourn his passing, his wife Rosie of the home, 2 daughters LeVetta Joy Josey of Denver, CO, Delvetta Carlotta Josey of Muskogee, OK, 7 stepchildren, 22 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, his brother Rueben Roger Josey of Sandy Springs, GA, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, church family and friends.

The family has been cared for by House of Winn Funeral Home, Muskogee.
