Mrs. Della F. Reed, widow of the late, Eugene Reed Sr.
answered the heavenly masters call, on Monday, October 27,2014.
Surrounded by her loving family, she transitioned at Eastgate
Retirement Center.
The book of life opened for Della Francis Austin Reed on February 8, 1934, as God's precious gift to King David and Marion Ross Austin in Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma. She was the second oldest of seven children and was affectionately known as "Della Francis". She grew up in Muskogee, Oklahoma, where she graduated from Manual Training High School in the Class of 1954.
She met her husband and was joined in Holy matrimony on May 4, 1959. This 40 year union was blessed with six children.
Della was a home beautician and care-giver for her family. She loved her family, and worked diligently in raising her children and her grandchildren in the ways of the Lord. She loved teaching God's word, listening to gospel music, and cooking. She had a passion for working with children and counseling others according to God's word.
She accepted Christ at an early age. She united with the Metropolitan Baptist Church in 1965 and served faithfully for 48 years until she became a resident of Eastgate Village Healthcare Center. She served in many offices. She loved the church and took the opportunity to serve in any place she could. She was certainly a soldier on the battlefield and her soul was anchored in the Lord. Even during her stay at Eastgate Village Healthcare Center, she was a witness to others always reading her bible, praying for other residents and their families, mentoring young workers and demonstrating that perseverance and determination will pay off in painful times. Her dedication to her God, her church, her family, and her spirit of Christian sisterhood and her big loving smile will always be a source of encouragement to all who truly knew her.
