Deckard
March 5, 1979 – August 9, 2023
On March 5, 1979 a baby boy was born to Cassandra Arlene Deckard and Christopher Penn.
Due to the untimely death of his mother; Demond was adopted and raised by maternal grandparents; Oscar Sr. and Wanda Deckard.
Demond attended Okmulgee Public Schools and graduated from the Okmulgee High School with the class of 1997.
Demond accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of First Baptist Church – Central under the leadership of Reverend Preston W. Jackson, Sr.
After graduating High School, Demond moved to Texas to further his education at DeVry Institute, and after graduating he decided to make his home in Texas. At the time of his death, he was employed with A.D. T security.
Demond loved his family and friends. His sister, Krista (SweetPea) moved to Texas with him. Demond took care of "SweetPea" through her illness until she passed, and he never got over losing her.
Demond had a smile that would light up a room and a voice like an angel. His favorite song to sing was "His eye is on the sparrow."
Demond was welcomed to his heavenly home by his mother; Cassandra; His Parents/Grandparents; Oscar Sr, and Wanda Deckard. Paternal grandparents Ambrose Penn and Willie Lee Colbert. His sister, Krista "SweetPea" Deckard.
Those remaining to live and cherish his sweet precious memories; His Father, Christopher (Jackie) Penn; His brothers, Oscar Deckard, Jr. and Caulin Penn (U.S. Army-Stationed in IRAQ). A very special cousin, Vickie Hill; Two Sisters, Christy Penn, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Ke-Andra Williams, Paris, Texas; a host of nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. A special friend Tiffany.
A Memorial Service is scheduled Saturday, August 19, 2023, 11:00 a.m., First Baptist Church Central, 521 N. Central Street, Okmulgee, OK; with Elder Oscar Higgs delivering the eulogy.
Flowers will be received at the funeral home on Friday, August 18th from 12 noon until 4:00 p.m.
The family has been cared for by House of Winn Funeral Home-Okmulgee.
