Donald Lou Tillman, 80, of Tulsa, Oklahoma departed life on July 6, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Amos G. Tillman Yerger, Willie Yerger and Roosevelt Tillman.
Donald was born in Boynton, OK on June 23, 1940, and at an early age joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Most recently he was a faithful member with Mount Rose Baptist Church, Tulsa Oklahoma.
He attended Wheatley Elementary (Boynton) graduating from Douglas High School (OKC) and continued to receive a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Lincoln University (Jefferson City, MO) and Master of Arts Degree from Oklahoma City University.
Donald taught high school with the Oklahoma and Missouri public school systems for over 30 years at Okmulgee Dunbar (Band Director), Douglas High (Band Director), Central High Kansas City (Asst. Principal) Boynton High (Teacher/Principal), retiring early from Tulsa McLain High School. He enjoyed traveling, music ( a gifted pianist ), photography, and studying cultural history.
He is survived by his brother Cardis L. Yerger (Linda) Port Orchard, WA, sister Carlotta Ann Yerger-Brown Ft Worth, TX, cousin Turner Goodrum (Joyce), his nieces and nephews, and the rest of his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be contributed to the Boynton Alumni Association, PO Box 215, Boynton, OK 74422.
The family of Donald Tillman wishes to thank House of Winn (Muskogee), the Tulsa Fire & Police Departments, and his neighbors.
Donald valued the friends he acquired throughout his life and will be missed.
A Memorial Service will be conducted, Thursday, July 23, 2020, at 5:00 p.m., Precious Memories Chapel, House of Winn Funeral Home, 2200 Military Blvd, Muskogee, OK, Rev. Bryan C. Bunch eulogizing.
MASKS MANDATORY with maximum occupancy of 50 mourners at the service.
