Donzel E. "Doc" Hill Jr., 83, laborer, a longtime resident of Okmulgee, OK; passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013 in a Tulsa hospital surrounded by family.
Donzel Eli "Doc" Hill Jr., 83 years old of Okmulgee , OK; was born November 3, 1929 to Donzel and Flora Hill. He passed away April 21, 2013 at Hillcrest Hospital in Tulsa , OK .
While growing up he worked on the farm and went to school. He moved to Oklahoma City and worked with his brother, Charles at General Tire Shop and sang with Margaret Wilbur Choir. He served in the United States Army. When he returned to Okmulgee he attended Oklahoma State Tech University and became an electrician. He worked as an electrician, construction worker and in the funeral home for many years.
He was united in marriage to Rebecca Richardson, February 5, 1970 in Okemah , OK . They resided in Okmulgee . Donzel had 14 children.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Donzel and Flora Hill, a daughter, Patricia, seven sisters, Mae Ella, Lillie, Leona, Elizabeth, Floretha, Nathious and Alberta, two brothers, Charles and Harold.
Survivors include his wife Rebecca, of the home in Okmulgee, OK; nine sons, Steve (Lisa), Gordon (Rita), Gary (Viola), and Donzel all of Okmulgee, OK, Dwayne (Tonia), Mounds, OK, Boswell (Tracy), Dallas, TX; Donnie, Beggs, OK; Darren and Michael, Oklahoma City, OK; five daughters, Sharon Hawkins and Lorraine Hill, both of Okmulgee, OK; Teresa, Debra, and Janice, all of Oklahoma City, OK; 51 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, 1 brother, Oscar Hill, Okmulgee, OK; two sisters, Myrtle Powell, Okmulgee, OK; and Bernice James, Spencer, OK; along with a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
A Home Going Celebration will be conducted Saturday, April 27, 2013 , 11:00 a.m., St. Matthews Baptist Church, 1001 East Chicago Street, Okmulgee, OK; with Rev. Charles Jones, eulogizing. Interment to follow in Nuyaka Cemetery, Nuyaka, OK.
Visitation will be Friday, April 26, 2013 from 1 to 6 p.m.
The family has been cared for by the Winn family at House of Winn Funeral Home.
