Obituary

"When You Hear of My Home Going, Don't Worry About Me"…Dora Mae Walker, age 83, a long time resident of Okmulgee, OK; slipped the bonds of this earthly realm into eternity, October 3, 2023 in OSU Medical Center, Tulsa, OK; surrounded by family.

Dora Mae Walker was born October 10, 1939 to Melvin and Josephine Carrethers in Nuyaka, Oklahoma. She was the third child of six.  She attended Wheatly High School in Beggs, Oklahoma and Dunbar High School in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.  She worked as a cook in different restaurants.

Sora professed her faith in Christ at a young age at New Salem Baptist Church, later she united with Greater Jones Chapel and St. Mary's.  Dora was a member of the Okmulgee City Wide Prayer Band.  Ever faithful in serving God, she attended Calvary Baptist Church in Sapulpa, Oklahoma and New Hope International Ministries in Springfield, Missouri under watch care.

Her parents, one sister, her only brother and two husbands preceded her in death.

Dora loved the Lord and her family.  She was greatly loved by everyone.

She leaves to cherish her memory, three sisters, Louise Goudeau, Beggs, OK; Mary Barnett, Tulsa, OK; Lynn James, Springfield, MO; step-daughter, Benethra Robinson, Okmulgee, OK; along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A Home Going Service will be conducted, Saturday, October 14th, 2023, 10:00 am, First Baptist Church South, Highway 16, Beggs, OK with Minister Curtis Barnett Sr., delivering the eulogy.  Visitation will be Friday, 12 noon until 4:00 p.m.
