Obituary

Druetta (Barker) Daniels was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, on May 27, 1946, to Hattie Barker and James Jackson. She was the youngest of two children.

Druetta was a lifelong resident of the Okmulgee community, where she spent her entire life. She attended the historic Dunbar High School and was a proud member of the Class of 1964. Later, she went on to receive her G.E.D. alongside a few of her close friends.

Druetta was a dedicated and hardworking woman. She was employed at Alliance Wall for many years before later retiring from Miami Terrace, where she continued to serve with care and compassion.

Druetta met the love of her life, Ulysses Daniels, in 1984. Their union was one filled with love, devotion, and lasting memories. They shared more than 30 years of marriage until his untimely passing in December 2015.

Druetta accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was a faithful and devoted member of Eastside Baptist Church for over 45 years, serving until her health began to decline. During her time there, she was actively involved in many areas of ministry, including the choir, kitchen ministry, youth leadership, and the usher board. Her love for music extended beyond the church walls. Druetta was also a member of the community choir and was among a select group who traveled and sang with the Caravettes and the Tottress Brothers.

Druetta was a sweet and kind-hearted woman—a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She carried a positive spirit wherever she went and would give her last to anyone in need. Affectionately known by many names—Dru, Gue, Drudy, and "Ol' Lady"—she was truly the life of every family gathering. "Ol' Lady" could always be found dancing while everyone cheered her on. She still had it, and her joy was contagious. She will be deeply missed, but her love, laughter, and beautiful spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Druetta made a sweet and peaceful transition into Heaven's choir on the morning of April 21, 2026, where she now rests joyfully in the presence of her Heavenly Father her Maker and Redeemer.

Druetta was preceded in death by her husband, Ulysses Daniels; her mother, Hattie Barker; her father, James Jackson; her sons, Adam Barker and Frank Lewis, Jr.; her brother, Hubert Stafford; and her stepfather, Otis Shepard.

Druetta leaves to cherish her sweet memories her loving children, Joyce (Freddie) Brown, Sharon (Mike) Moore of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Vicky Barker and Anita Barker of Okmulgee, Oklahoma; and David (Paula) Barker of Edmond, Oklahoma. She also leaves her sister-in-law, Verna Stafford of Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She further leaves to cherish her memory her stepchildren, Tammy (Eophus) Graves and Buffy Daniels (Peco) of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, and Steven Daniels of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Druetta was also blessed with 23 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, as well as a special friend, June Taylor, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
