Earnest E. Houston, 59, a resident of Haskell,OK passed away, Thursday, March 7, 2013 in
St Francis Hospital South.
Earnest "Eddie" Houston Jr. was born March 7, 1954 to Earnest and Helen Houston in Haskell, Oklahoma. He was the second of seven children born to that union.
He attended Booker T. Washington and Haskell Public schools. He previously attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he accepted Christ as his personal Savior.
Eddie served in the armed forces, construction, self –employed butcher, and a little league umpire in the community for many years.
Eddie was always willing to lend a helping hand. He met no strangers, and was a friend to many. He loved fishing, hunting, raising his dogs and spending time with family.
Earnest united in holy matrimony to Carolyn (Gist) Houston on August 15, 1987, to that union, one daughter, Nakia, and one step-son, Johanna.
His father, mother and three brothers precede him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Carolyn of the home, one step-son, Johanna, Oklahoma City, OK; one daughter, Nakia, Oklahoma City, OK; one God Daughter, Isabella, Taft,OK; two brothers, Shjon Houston; Enid, OK; and Ronald Houston, Wagoner, OK; two sisters, Wanda Houston, Sarasota, FL; and Marsha Houston, Haynes City, FL; three grandchildren, Tearnie, Tristen, and Kylan, all of Oklahoma City, OK; two aunts, Bobbie Jean Wilson and Virginia Gills, Kansas City, MO; one uncle, Clyde J. Houston, Oklahoma City, OK; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
A Home going celebration will be conducted Saturday, March 16, 2013, 2:00 p.m., First Baptist Church Haskell, 1401 N. haskell Blvd., Haskell, OK; with Rev. Carl; G. Morgan, delivering the eulogy.
Visitation will be Friday, 1-6 p.m.
The family has been cared for by the Winn family at Granger-House of Winn Funeral Home.
