Obituary

Earnestine Douglas was born along with her twin sister, Josephine, February 1, 1933 in Caldwell, Texas to the proud parents M.B. and Annie Lee Scott Douglas.

Earnestine received her primary education in Texas but later moved to Oklahoma where she received her secondary accomplishments. Earnestine went on to graduate with an Associates Degree in Home Economics from Northeastern State University, Tahlequah, OK.

She professed a love for Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Caldwell, TX. Later in life she moved her membership to International Outreach Ministry and Training Center, Tulsa, OK; under the direction of Pastor Howard Hatcher.

Earnestine met and married Primos Nelson, Jr., and to this union five children were born. This marriage was later dissolved. Later in life she married, Samuel Roseborough.

Earnestine was a very domestic and devoted wife and mother to her children. She kept her children active in church, sports and other various activities. She was always offering motherly advice and support to her children when needed.

"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." Ecclesiastes 3:1

Mrs. Roseborough loved spreading the word of the Lord wherever she went. When it came to raising her family in the way of the Lord, she truly adhered to the scripture Proverbs 22:6 "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it."

Mrs. Roseborough spent a lot of time visiting the sick and shut-in. Her most enjoyable time spent occurred as she helped rear some of her grandchildren/great-grandchildren and visiting her siblings/family members who lived in town and out. The visits turned into 'Soul Food' themed occasions, with activities such as sports, singing, dancing, family members gathering to play card games or dominoes.

Mrs. Roseborough made an impact on her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces (great) and nephews (great). The nieces and nephew not only looked at her like an aunt, but also like a second mother. She was endearingly called "Granny 2" by other relatives and Grandma by others outside her family, because that's what she meant to them. She truly did inhabit, endure and apply the commandments of God, like that in John 15:12 "This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you."

On February 20, 2016, the Lord called his angel home.

Preceding her in death are her parents, five sisters, Billie Adams, Bennie Ruth Delonia, Dorothy Larkins, Annie Fae Nash, and Joyce Brown, a brother, Willie Jewel Douglas a son, Bobby Nelson and infant twins.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Robbie Nelson, Joyce Chambers and Deborah Thompson, 19 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren, 1 brother, Melvin Douglas, 4 sisters, Josephine Miller, Opal Donahue, Sallie Bell, and Shirley Warren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Home Going Service is scheduled Saturday, February 27, 2016, 1:00 p.m., Greater Jones A.M.E. Zion Church, 1226 E. Smith Street, Okmulgee, OK; with Pastor Howard Hatcher, International Outreach Ministry and Training Center, Tulsa, OK; eulogizing. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, Okmulgee, OK.

Visitation will be Friday, 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

The family has been cared for by House of Winn Funeral Home.
