Evans Thomas
August 31, 1933 – February 8, 2021
In honor of Ella (Evans) Thomas who was born August 31, 1933 to Henryetta McBrier and Levi J. Martin.
Ella was a member of the Manual Training High School class of 1950. She was active through her school years serving as Homecoming Queen in 1950.
From her marriage to L.D. Blackburn (Evans) five children were born: Linda Gabriel, Carlotta Evans Embry, Toni (Evans) Terrell, Leonard Muhammad, Traycee Evans.
Ella was one of the first Black woman employed for the City of Muskogee. She was one of the first people you would see when entering City Hall. She represented her family in the community with grace and dignity. She ended her professional work career at Indian Capital Technology Center.
She remarried later in life to Kenneth Thomas and lived in Detroit, Michigan. While in Detroit, she worked at the African American Museum.
Ella leaves to mourn her passing her 5 children, 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren to keep her memories going for more generations.
Home Going Service will be conducted on Saturday, February 20, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in the Precious Memories Chapel, House of Winn Funeral Home, 2200 Military Blvd, Muskogee, OK, with Rev. Tony Wooden eulogizing and Rev. David Ragsdale, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Booker T. Washington Cemetery, Muskogee. Visitation will be Friday, February 19, 2021 in the Precious Memories Chapel from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
