Emmett
Scott
November 28, 1967 – May 24, 2023
On November 28, 1967, a baby boy was born to Ada Lee Bowens and Luther Scott. They lovingly named him Emmett Jackson Scott. Emmett was a kind, generous, intelligent and compassionate man who lived with integrity and respect. He cared deeply for his family and friends. He never met a stranger with his wonderful sense of humor and contagious smile.
Emmett grew up in the Warrior community outside of Checotah. OK and attended Mt. Olive Star Baptist Church where he dedicated himself to Christ at age 12. He graduated from Checotah High School in 1986 and went on to obtain his A.S.Degree from Connors State College and his A.A.S. Degree from TCC. Emmett was an excellent provider for his family, working the last 20+ years in telecommunications where he made many lifelong friends.
Emmett has known the love of his life and best friend, Vicki, since elementary school. The two fell in love in 1986 and they were married June 5, 1990. From this love story came three children whom he loved and adored. He would affectionately call his family "The Scottcrew". His special nephew, Emmett "PeeWee" Bowens was always included in the family. He loved spending time outdoors, working on his cars, and spending time with family on the weekends in Checotah.
Emmett was so proud to be called "Big Dad-E" by his four grandchildren. He spent intentional time with each of them and showed up to every school or team event possible. He could always be counted on.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Ada Lee Bowens and Luther Scott; his brothers: Luther Scott Jr., Quincy Scott, Aaron Bowens; his sisters: Denise Scott, Philicine Warrior
