Erma Jean
Boggess
August 4, 1938 – October 12, 2025
On August Fourth Nineteen Hundred Thirty Eight, a baby girl was born to Luella Luchion in Lena, LA. She named her (Imogene) Erma Jean. She was raised by Mr. & Mrs. Bert & Ethel Heard in Shreveport, LA. Erma attended school in Shreveport, LA.
Erma Jean accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. Pennywell at the Bossier Baptist Church in Bossier, LA.
In 1953 she met and married Manon Pinkney. This union was blessed with one child. In 1956 she met and married Thomas Boggess. This union was blessed with five children. In 1959 they moved to Kansas City, MO. Erma joined the Emmanuel Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. W.H. White. In 1983 she moved to Okmulgee, OK. She would join Mt. Zion Baptist Church, under Rev. David Burks. In 2010 she moved to Euless, TX. She joined Ben Washington Baptist Church under Rev. J.R. Shepherd. In 2012 she moved back to Okmulgee and united with First Baptist Church Central under the leadership of Rev. P. W. Jackson Sr.
On October Twelfth Two Thousand Twenty Five she went home to be the Lord.
Erma was preceded in death by her parents, Manon Pinkney, Thomas Boggess Jr., Thomas Boggess III, and William Tompkins Sr.
She leaves to mourn her home going, Sheila Jackson (Oklahoma), Gwendolyn/John Taylor (Texas), Kevin Boggess (Oklahoma), Regina Boggess (Missouri), Angela Boggess (Oklahoma), 18 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, a special cousin, Lenora Redd (Texas) a special friend, John W. Taylor a long with a host of relatives and friends. To God Be the Glory.
A Home Going Celebration is scheduled Saturday, October 25, 2025, 11:00 a.m., First Baptist Church Central, 521 Central Street, Okmulgee, OK; with Dr. Michael Logan, Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, Lawton, OK; delivering the eulogy.
Visitation will be Friday, October 24, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
