For 97 years, a dignified woman walked this earth. Her celebration of life begin on August 11, 1919 when a beautiful baby girl was born to, Eugene Harrison Logan Sr. and Etta (Baker) Logan. This lovely girl was named Etta (Ann) Lea Logan. She was the ninth child born to this union of thirteen. She was born in Crecola, Oklahoma. Her family had traveled from Boone County, Missouri to make the lands of Oklahoma for the Logan family.
Her family consisted of her siblings Hollis Logan Sr., Leona (Logan) Craig, Horace Logan Sr., Alvin W. Logan Sr., Perry P. Logan, Elona S. Logan (died in youth), Eugene Harrison Logan Jr., John B. Logan Sr., Ulyssess G. (Boo) Logan, Clark Gable Logan, and Otis B. (Fat) Logan Sr. Ann attended Hall Chapel as a youth. She also attended Douglas School. She graduated from Manual Training in 1940.
She married John Crawford on September 29, 1941. They enjoyed a wonderful marriage for many years until his untimely death. She married John Banks. This marriage lasted until his death. She later married Frank Newton on October 2, 1978. This marriage lasted for twenty years until his death.
Ann accepted Christ at an early age. She was a faithful member of Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church. She belonged to the Women's Missionary Society of the church for many years. In addition, she was on the Stewardess Board. She was a member of the Queen Bathsheba Grand Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Prince Hall Affiliation, Jurisdiction of Oklahoma Chapter No. 167.
She was dedicated to her farm and looking after everyone. She was a great cook and peanut brittle maker. She made preserves and had a great recipe for "pear relish." Ann worked for many years cooking at various nursing homes. She co-founded the Logan Livestock Association. She became President of the Association for several year helping to make sure young farmers were given the opportunity to start their own herd.
Etta (Ann) was preceded in death by her parents and all siblings except one brother, and many other nieces and nephews. She leaves to cherish her brother Clark Gable Logan. Special Nieces and Nephews: Linda Logan Young (Kenneth) of Orlando, Florida, Adolph (Elvis) Logan of Summit, Masalene Jackson of Tulsa, Patricia Lyons of Summit, Ollie Lawrence of California, Theodore (Clarice) of Muskogee, Eugene (Sharna) Logan of California, Vereen (Paulette) of Summit, Alvin Logan Jr. (Wyvette) of Iowa, Faye Jean Bruce of Tulsa, Carl (Barbara) Logan of Tulsa, Marcenia (Ron) Wise of Tulsa, Marcus (Yvonne) Logan of Muskogee, Joshua Logan of Muskogee, Lawrence Weldon of Seattle Washington, John (Sue) Logan Jr. of Summit, Linda (Paul) Williams of Alaska, Leona Rossback of Michigan, Diana Martin of Alaska, Edith Morgan of Alaska, Lucille Squirrel of Muskogee, Sandra Tiger of Muskogee, Noel Logan of Muskogee, Otis (OT) Logan Jr. of Muskgoee, and Christopher Logan of Muskogee. In addition, very special great-nieces; Etta Lawrence and Jameelah Young.
She also leaves to mourn her step-children from her marriage to Frank Newton and a host of many great nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
