Wherefore, it has pleased our Lord and Saviour to call from labor to reward our beloved Eunice Eugene Colbert, who departed this life on Sunday, March 26, 2017 in Muskogee, OK at Pleasant Valley Nursing Home.

"Gene", son of the late Woodrow Wilson Colbert and Hattie Mae (Thomas) Colbert, was born, October 6, 1943 in Oktaha, OK. He was educated in the Oktaha Friendship school system and graduated from Rentiesville High School, Rentiesville, OK. Gene joined St. James AME Church at an early age and later became a member of First Baptist Church, Summit, OK, where he served as a deacon.

Gene enlisted in the United States Army in 1961 and was honorably discharged in 1964.

Gene Colbert met and married Ellen Greenleaf, they were married for 25 years. He was father to daughters: Estella, Pam, Ronica, and Carmelitta, son Raymond and grandsons he considered as his sons: DeMarco, Alonzo "Bubba" and Geno, also a special sister Norma Jean.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Gene also leaves to cherish his memories, wife, Ellen of the home; sisters, Beatrice, Evelyn, Earlean, and Wanda; brothers, Artemus "T-Bone", Milton, Woodrow Jr., and special brother/cousin, Charles; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

A Home Going Service is scheduled Saturday, April 1, 2017, 1:00 p.m., First Baptist Church-Summit, 6600 S 54th St W, Muskogee, OK; interment will follow in Oktaha Cemetery, Oktaha, OK.

Visitation will be Friday, 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
