Evelyn Marie
Jackson
February 11, 1939 – December 24, 2020
When He calls me, I will answer, I'll be somewhere listening for my Name. On February 11, 1939 a beautiful baby girl was born to Cordell Johnson and Vonia Pitts Johnson in Porter, OK. The family moved to Muskogee, OK in 1939 and Evelyn went on to graduate from the historic Manuel Training High School. Evelyn went on to further her education and she worked as School Secretary at Manuel Training High School. She also worked at Victor Savings and Loan after which she worked for Dr. Lambert in his medical office.
She married James Jackson and to this union a handsome boy was born and they named him Gregory Dean Jackson. After this union was dissolved, she went on to make a life for her and her son, raising him in a Christian home.
She joined the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in 1958 where she was very active. She was the Church's Organist for over 30 years, taught Sunday School, Treasurer for the WMU and Director of the Junior Choir. She loved her Church and Pastor and was very dedicated in coming to Worship every Sunday until her health began to slow her down.
Evelyn was a Member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.
Evelyn enjoyed reading and watching sports on TV. Everyone who knew her, knew that her favorite color was Purple. And she was so happy when her Grandchildren decided to call her Purple.
Those who greeted her at Heaven's door was her Parents, Brother Rev. Cordell Johnson and her dear son Gregory.
