January 20, 1938 – July 22, 2024
Cherished and beloved Mother and Grandmother, Florice Thompson passed peacefully from this lifetime into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on July 22nd, 2024. She was born in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Cecelia (Lyons) and Sandow Wilson January 20th, 1938. She was the oldest daughter out of eleven children.
She married James Cazenave Sr., the love of her life and the father of her children. They enjoyed being a beautiful family together for 30 years. Later in life after burying her husband, she met Sammy Thompson and they got married and enjoyed 19 years together until he passed away.
Flo was an absolutely wonderful woman and loved to laugh and enjoy her family with her delicious meals and happy gatherings. She was a devout Catholic and member of Uganda Martyrs church for years and served her community. For 44 years she was a member of the St. Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary. She also loved to go to Bingo and the casino when she wanted to have some
fun.
Christmas was always very special to her, as she would eagerly add to her ever-growing gift list of new grandbabies every year. She loved to shop for everyone and gather in her home for the festivities after midnight mass. She moved to Edmond in 2020 to be closer to her children where she resided at the Edmond HealthCare Center for four years. Her family loved her dearly and cherished every moment spent with her.
Florice is preceded in death by her husband James Cazenave Sr., two daughters, Phyllis Perkins and Diane Cazenave. Her parents, 4 sisters, and 4 brothers. She is survived by her 4 children, Janet (Ron) Johnson of Edmond, Jimmy (Sharon) Cazenave Jr. of Okmulgee, Sheila (Norman) Gant of Oklahoma City, and Reggie (Jasmine) Cazenave Sr. of Edmond OK. One sister Bernice Ashley of Schulter, OK and one brother Leon Wilson of Okmulgee, OK and a host of nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
Funeral Mass is scheduled Friday, July 26th, 2024, 11:00 a.m., Uganda Martyrs Catholic Church, 303 E. 3rd Street, Okmulgee, OK; with Father Ken Harder offering words of comfort. Inurnment will be at a later date. Visitation will be Thursday, 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
