Obituary

Frederick Brian Nunley, passed away on February 20th after a short illness at the age of 55. Brian, as we all called him was a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. His love for all of us will continue forever as a beacon of light for all of us to follow.

Brian was born August 19, 1966 to Kathryn "Toy" Nunley (d) and Herbert Shipp (d) in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Early Anderson, siblings, Karen, Annette, Nannette, Eric, Linda and Glenda. His uncle's: Fred, Nolen, Frank, and William. And his aunt's: Flora Mae, Ina, Edna, and Betty.

He graduated from Muskogee Public Schools in 1985 and attended Okmulgee Tech Culinary School. Brian held several positions throughout his life including culinary arts, Dallas Independent School District, Arlington Independent School and most recently he was employed with Incore in Muskogee as a Direct Support Professional. Brian accepted Christ at an early age at Wilson Chapel Baptist Church under the pastorship of Rev. T.L. Turner and he was a member of Denley Drive Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas.

Admirably, whether you agreed or not, once Brian made up his mind there was no changing his direction. He lived his life his way. His beautiful heart and love for all will be missed. Brian lit up a room and he was the biggest supporter for any and everyone. He wanted to see us smile and laugh - he was very good at bringing out the best in all. Brian wanted to share with everyone the same joy and love that he felt and experienced on this earth.

It didn't matter the time of year and especially on Sundays during football season if you were around Brian or spoke with him you would hear him enthusiastically shout at the top of his voice, "Go Pitt Go!" Now, if the Steelers lost, not a peep out of him would be heard for a couple of days. Not only did he support his Steelers with excitement and unmatched enthusiasm, he supported anyone with the same zeal and fervor for whatever endeavor they might be undertaking in life.

Brian loved the simple pleasures of life…family, friends, good food and laughter. And if you were a fan of Star Trek, you were instantly held at a higher esteem by this connection. Brian thought and looked at life from the lens of love and that is legacy. He was terrifically contagious and never met a stranger. His spirit will always be with us and his love for life is ever present. We will miss you, Frederick Brian Nunley, you are a saint.

Brian is survived by his siblings, Cynthia Nunley-Love, Michael Nunley (Cheryl) and Kelvin Nunley (Allie), his Aunt Effie Milam and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends. Everyone was special to Brian. He made us all feel and believe this way.

We will miss you, dear brother. We thank God for the blessing He bestowed upon us to be a part of your life. While our sorrow now is great, we have only beautiful and loving memories of you to cherish and hold on to. We hear your voice and laughter and see your loving eyes. We know you are looking down upon us and cheering for us as you always have. We love you, Frederick Brian Nunley.
