Obituary

Frenetta Asher Powell was born September 25, 1931 to Freeman Issac and Christina Walker Asher Sr. in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Frenetta was the first born of 10 children she attended and graduated Dunbar High School, and Maricopa Community College in Phoenix, Arizona.

In April 1952 she met and married Oscar Lee Jones to this union were born two children Cheryl and Christina Jones. She also had a son Orlander Homer Petit Jr. from a previous relationship.

Frenetta accepted the Lord as her Saviour at a Pentecostal church in Alamogordo, New Mexico. She later attended St John Baptist Church in Phoenix for many years. She remained active in church in missions and on the highways and byways through evangelism.

After the death of her husband Frenetta met and married Walter Powell December 1965. Frenetta loved to sew and was an accomplished seamstress with the ability to make tailor made dresses, Hats, quilts, pillow shams, curtains, stuffed animals and a host of imaginative things. She was also an excellent cook. Frenetta was also a self-taught pianist and loved to sing. Frenetta was preceded in death by her father Freeman Issac Asher, mother Christina Asher, husband Walter Powell loving son Orlander Homer Petit, daughter Cheryl Ann Juniel, grandson Orlander Yaphett, great granddaughter Brianna Nichole.

Frenetta is survived by her loving daughter Christina Jones, Brother Charles Asher, Phoenix AZ, Sister Doretha Lee Newport Beach, California, Sister June Asher Moss, San Fernando Valley, California, 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives.

Graveside services at Okmulgee cemetery, were conducted, Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Rudelle Brown, eulogizing.

The family has been cared for by House of Winn Funeral Home-Okmulgee.
