George Bumphus, 73, a resident of Muskogee, transitioned
Wednesday, Septemeber 10, 2014.

On September 2, 1941, George was the fifth child born to the late George E. Bumphus and Leola Bumphus Gilkey in Rentiesville, OK.

George was an entrepreneur. He operated several businesses throughout the state of Oklahoma. He received his education and religious training in Rentiesville, OK.

George Lee Bumphus a wonderful and loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2014.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Virginia Brown, four brothers, Ardis Bumphus, Arthur Bumphus, James Bumphus and Lonnie Bumphus and step-father, Herbert (Dad) Gilkey.

He leaves to cherish his memories his daughters, Cherry (Willie) King, Wichita, KS; Rajeana Howlett, Plant City, FL; son, Arnjold (Kimberly) Simon Jr., Fayetteville, AK; grandsons, Jamar Gilkey and Alexon Johnson, Orlando, FL; granddaughter, Alyssa Simon, Pierce, OK; two sisters, Barbara Jean Eldridge and Berthalene (Ceaphus) Grady, Kansas City, MO; 13 nieces, 49 grand nieces, 42 great-grandnieces, 22 nephews, 38 grandnephews, 40 great-grand nephews and his extended family along with a host of other realtives and friends.

A Service of Memory, will be conducted, Friday, September 19, 2014, 1:00 p.m., First Baptist Church, Rentiesville, OK. Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery, Oktaha, OK.

Visitation will be Thursday, 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

The family has been cared for by Granger-House of Winn Funeral Home.
