Obituary

Geraldine Hawkins, 67, homemaker, a resident of Boynton, OK; passed away in Eastar Health System, Tuesday July 22, 2014.

One warm Spring day bin May 1947, a baby girl was born in Atlanta , Georgia to John and Naomi Norwood. They named her Geraldine (Geri) Norwood.

She attended school and church in Georgia. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. "Geri" accepted Christ at an early age and continued to learn more about God as she grew. She became assistant minister under the direction of Rev. Betty Harris, Pastor of New Testament Holiness Church of Jesus Christ, Coweta, OK.

She met and married Jackie Hawkins in November 1986 and gained two step-children.

Geri marched in the Freedom Parade with Martin Luther King. She was also known for babysitting in Broken Arrow, OK; and Atlanta, GA. She was a Worthy Matron for three years with Eastern Star Chapter 104, Red Bird, OK; Lillie White Chapter.

Preceding her in death are her parents, one sister, two brothers.

Those left to cherish her memories, a loving husband, Jackie Hawkins, of the home, a son, Bernard Williams, step-son, Jackie Hawkins II, step-daughter, LaTreas Hawkins, all of Georgia,a sister, Porsche Norwood, New York, a brother, Allen Norwood of Georgia, 12 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 4 sister-in-laws, 3 brother-in –laws along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.

A Service of Memory will be conducted, Saturday, August 2, 2014 at
2 P.M. in Antioch Baptist church, rural Morris,OK. Interment will follow in Cane Creek cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, 1:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
