Hazel Sheppard, 86, homemaker, a resident of Taft, OK; passed away, Saturday, December 13, 2014 in Eastar Health System.
The Life Epitome of Hazel L. Sheppard
Hazel Sheppard went home to be with the Lord on Saturday December 14, 2014, she was one of 13 children born to Edward and Ethel Bogar in Ladonia, Texas on January 1, 1928. Hazel confessed hope in Christ at an early age and united with Yeager Chapel C.M.E. in Wolfe City, Texas. She attended Ladonia Elementary school and Clark High School in Ladonia Texas. She married Joseph Brown and to this union 2 children were born. Hazel later moved to Oklahoma to care for elderly grandparents, she later met and married John Sheppard. She faithful and dedicated to serving the Lord, she united with Bethel A.M.E., in Muskogee, Oklahoma, she was active in Women ministry and she sang in the choir.
Hazel was very generous and loving, she loved her family and extended family members. she enjoyed preparing home-style food and entertaining family and friends. She presented with wisdom and was known as the family Historian of the Bogar family reunions.
In later years, Hazel moved to Taft and united with Flipper Chapel A.M.E. Church, she remained active until her health began to fail.
Hazel leaves to cherish her memories 2 daughters Ethel Fay Nave of Kansas Mo. Marie Mixon of Galesburg Ill. Five generations of grandchildren: 4 grandchildren, Dominic D. Nav, Melvajean A. Brown, Jacqueline E. Mixon, John E. Mixon and Emanuel L. Mixon.
12,grand-grandchildren, 10 great -great grandchildren, 3 sisters, Annie Mae Roseman, Fayrene Cooper, and Jonell Shaw of Dallas, Texas, 1 step-sister, Verniece Barnett, Ladonia, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews and special friends.
Special recognition to her cousins Sue Bell, Veroncia Williams, Vivian Delois Bracken, Billie Brown and special niece, Renee Harlin for their love, dedicated and support as they stayed by Hazel' side during the final her days.
Hazel has joined her parents, 4 sisters, Kathrine Jones, Louise Carter, Mattie Stone, Merlie Franklin 4 brothers Clifford Bogar, Thurman Bogar, Eddie Lee Bogar and Rober Bogar in their heavenly home.
A Home Going Celebration will be conducted Friday, December 19, 2014, 11:00 a.m., Flipper Chapel A.M.E. Church, Taft, OK; with Rev. Dr. Samuel Craig, eulogizing. Interment will follow in ft. Gibson National Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
The family has been cared for by Granger-House of Winn Funeral Home.
