Herbert Henderson, age 84, a resident of Okmulgee, Ok, transitioned from this life in a local Nursing home on Tuesday, July 30, 2013.
Brother Herbert Henderson was born on November 19, 1928, to Lonnie and Fannie Henderson, in Beggs, OK. Brother Henderson was the fifth of seven children born to this union. He was affectionately known as "Tip". Bro. Henderson attended Wheatley High School in Beggs. Both parents preceded him in death, as well as three siblings, Dovie Alford, Lonnie Henderson Jr., and Lawrence Henderson.
Bro. Henderson married Reinette Rhodes Henderson, and to this union one child, Deborah, was born. They were married for 48 years, until Reinette's death on March 31, 2007. Bro. Henderson later married Bobbie Jean Johnson in September, 2010, in Okmulgee, where he resided until his death.
Bro. Henderson was employed at the Rigg & Reel/Flintco Construction Co. for 40 years, retiring in 1990. He was a life-long hard worker. For many years while he was employed full time, and after retirement, Bro. Henderson chopped wood that was on his property; he would load it up into his truck and would sell the wood in several communities and cities. He chopped and sold an untold number of ricks of wood over the years. There was not a lazy bone in his body!
Bro. Henderson accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour in 1958, attending both the Church of God chapels in Okmulgee (Elder Woodrow Warren, Pastor) and Tulsa, Oklahoma (Elder Charles D. Lowe, Pastor). He worked faithfully in the capacities of trustee, song leader, and in the finance department.
