Obituary

Hoover Herbert Jones was born September 21, 1931 to Homer and Ida Jones.

Hoover went into the US Army in 1949 when he was 18 years of age. He left as a Corporal of the US Army in 1953 out of Anchorage Alaska.

He later moved to Wichita, KS where he worked for the City of Wichita eventually he retired in 1981 to return to his native township of Rentiesville, OK.  Hoover was a part of the Checotah Roughriders for over 10 years.  He served as a Volunteer Firefighter for 8 years, more recently he participated in the Town Purple Heart Ceremony.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Ida Jones, Brothers Robert Jones, William Jones, Famous Jones, two sons, Melvin Nelson and Derrick Nelson and Granddaughter Ariana Anderson,

Hoover was a devoted Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle and Friend who would give anything he could to loved ones.  He leaves to mourn him Big Brother Lee Jones, son Herb Jones, daughter's Margaux Anderson, Vergenia Nicholson, Elsie Nelson and Carla Nelson. He left behind a host of Grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A Home Going Service is scheduled Friday, February 28, 2025, 11:00 a.m., Mt Olive Star Baptist Church, 413665 E. 1080, Checotah, OK; with Pastor Samuel Cunningham, delivering the eulogy.  Interment will follow in Green Hill Cemetery, Muskogee, OK.

Military Honors performed by Ft. Sill Honors Team

Visitation will be Thursday, 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

The family has been cared for by House of Winn-Muskogee
