Obituary

Mrs. Ida B. Jones, age 92, a long time former resident of the Tullahassee,OK community, transitioned, Thursday, April 16, 2015
in Eastar Hospital.

On September 17, 1922 in Tullahassee, Oklahoma, Ida Belle Flemmons was born to George Walter and Mary Ellen Smith Flemmons.
Ida B as she was affectionately known as, worked hard doing her homework at Mark Hannah and she worked in the field.

She accepted Christ at a young age and attended First Baptist Church, Tullahassee, OK. Ida later moved her membership to St. John Baptist Church, Gibson Station, OK; and years later uniting with First Baptist Church, Okay, OK. She loved God and loved to sing.

Ida B. met and married Elmer Army Jones, July 18, 1942. Elmer had a son from a previous marriage named, Owen Sylvester Jones. Elmer and Ida B. would soon become the parents of six more children.
Ida always wanted to become a teacher and didn't hesitate to tell you to get an education because you will need it one day. Ida showed the importance of hard work to her children. She picked cotton, chopped cotton, dug wild onions, cut spinach, picked strawberries, churned milk, cut wood, pick black berries and made sure everyone in the community got some even if it meant going out twice in one day. Ida worked closely with the 4-H Club, BTU and the Home Mission Society. Ida would pull off her shoe and kill a snake. She loved to cook, raise her children and grandchildren.
At the age of 92 she could still throw a mean punch with her bad hand. She was strong willed and you couldn't change her mind once it was made up. One time Jerry and Ida went to visit Mozeal at the hospital after a roll-over accident and stayed later after being persuaded to leave.

Ida B. went home to be with the Lord, April 16, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and 9 siblings, Georgia Mae Gasque, Berthetta Ridge, Esther Green, Dorothy Flemmons, Maxine Flemmons, James Flemmons, G.W. Flemmons, Booker T. Flemmons and an unnamed child.
