Ina Evangeline
Freeman
July 12, 1943 – August 11, 2020
Ina E. Freeman born to Louise and Edwin Freeman in Tortola, Virgin Island on July 12,1943. She was raised by her dad and his mom. Ina spent her life on an island with mangos, sugar cane and coconut tart and Beaches. She grew up with her sister Marion, they were thick as thieves. At the age of 17 Ina mom picked up her girls and moved them to the South Bronx, New York.
Ina met her husband on leave from the marine corps, they married and had 6 children, 3boys and 3 boys. They were married for 10 years, after the marriage was dissolved, she moved to Tulsa, Ok t her be closer to her sister Marion. She took nursing classes and began a wonderful career in nursing. Ina's worked at doctor's hospital for 10 years. She loved helping people, and she loved the little babies. When Doctors hospital closed, Ina started a career in hospitality. She worked at the Crown Plaza Hotel. She loved her job there and her co-worker were especially fond of her. Ina received several awards in the 10 years she worked for the hotel.
Ina was a hard worker sometimes working 2 jobs just to buy the things she liked.
When the Crown Plaza sold to another hotel, Ina went to work for the Hutchinson YMCA in north Tulsa. She was the cook for all the babies ranging from age 1 year old until 5 years old. She was more than a server for the daycare, she was like family, she was a mom, grandmother and friend. She brought such warmth to her job, after 6 years Ina decided to retire. She decided it was time to visit her children and grandchildren. Proceeding her in death. Her mom and dad Louise and Edwin Freeman, her husband Errol E. Ward, her nephew Eddie Conner, her granddaughter Angel Ward, and her beloved baby boy Jozie Hullex.
Left to keep her memory : Siblings :Marion and Aaron Pointer, Marilyn Conners, Butch Watts, Oric Watts, daughter Rosemary Collins Tulsa, Ok, Rodney Freeman Bronx, NY, Errol and Jackie Ward, Raleigh, NC, Annamarie and Joseph Matthews, Jacksonville, NC, Linda Ward Waco, TX. 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A Home Going Service will be conducted Tuesday, August 18, 2020, at 11:00 a.m., in World Won For Christ Family Life Ministries, 2121 North Harvard Ave., Tulsa, OK, Pastor Melvin Cooper, eulogizing. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery, Tulsa, OK.
Visitation, Monday, August 17, 2020, at Jacks Memory Chapel Funeral Home, Tulsa, OK during the hours of 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
MASKS are mandatory at all services.
The family has been cared for by House of Winn Funeral Home-Muskogee.
