Irene (Triggs)
Freeman
April 3, 1936 – June 22, 2022
Mrs. Irene Triggs Freeman (Muff) 86, passed away in the early morning of June 22, 2022 from Muskogee, Oklahoma. Irene was born on April 3, 1936, to the proud parents of Sterling Triggs and Tennessee Wright Triggs of Boynton, OK. Irene was the baby girl of eleven siblings, which included: Bill Triggs, Hazel Monday, Munna Triggs, Katherine Hines, WillaMae Moore, Ford Triggs, Sanford Triggs, Mary Love, Oscar Triggs, who all preceded her in death. Irene has one living brother, Harold Triggs of Oklahoma City. Irene had special sisters/nieces who also preceded her in death: Marie Robinson, Barbara Mason and Marcella Mason.
Irene grew up in Boynton, OK and attended Wheatley School.
Irene was united in Holy Matrimony at a very young age of 18 years old to Jay Bee Freeman who was 26 years of age. Eight children were born to this union. Irene was not just a homemaker, she was also a Nurse's Aide and SPD Tech (sterile Processing Dept.) in Muskogee, OK. Jay Bee was a construction worker of Tulsa, OK.
Irene and Jay Bee both attended the Greater Rayfield Baptist Church. Both Irene and Jay Bee served in several capacities in the church. She later joined Berean Seventh Day Adventist Church.
In the Freeman household the children were taught about the Love of God. Irene often quoted the scripture Matthew 7:7, "Ask and it Shall be given you; seek and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you."
Irene would assist often with her children's school activities. Once Irene and some of the neighborhood moms participated with their children in the talent show at their school: Douglas Elementary School. They were Diana Ross and the Supremes , with Irene starring as Diana Ross .
Irene was honored and filled with to be able to serve others in her community. She would prepare food, whether it be breakfast, lunch, or dinner for the ones who could not do it for themselves. At times, when she was unable to take it to them herself, she would prepare the food and have the children take it to them. Irene would share the goodness of the Lord with whoever would listen.
Later in life, when Irene's health began to fail her, she would still thank God for life, health, and strength that God did bless her with. Irene's children, family, nieces, and caregivers attended to her until her passing. Irene was so very special to all of her family and friends and each, individually and collectively, where so pleased to be able to help with her. The one special niece who was there at all times for Irene was Dionne Triggs (Sweet Pea). Always looking out for Auntie Irene.
She is preceded in death by JayBee Freeman (husband), James Freeman, Tracy Freeman and Melvin Freeman (sons).
She leaves to cherish her memory, Marvin Freeman (Gwen) Muskogee, Gloria Newton, OKC, Teresa Brown, Florida, Chris Freeman, Muskogee, JayBee Freeman Jr., (Adriene) Kansas City, MO. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
