Jackson James Jr. was born January 17, 1940 in Muskogee, OK to Lois Merritt & Jackson James Sr. After his parents'  marriage was dissolved his mother married Donald Maple.

Jackson was raised by his three loving parents. He accepted Jesus as his Savior as a child and devoted himself completely to God and Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was devoted to many capacities in the church, trustee, church treasurer, choir director, youth and senior choirs and most of all the Director of the Brotherhood Chorus. He graduated from Manual Training High School, class of 1957. Jackson married his soul mate of 63 years Dorothy Williams James. To this union they had two sons. He started a career with Muskogee School Systems and later with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., retiring with 30 years in 1999.

He was preceded in death by his parents, paternal and maternal grandparents, one son, Stephen A. James.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Dorothy, son, Brian K. James, sister, Shirley Hudson, Tulsa, Brother, Ronald Maple, Dallas, TX and Step brother Donald Maple of San Antonio, TX . 9 grandchildren, Jeremy James, Markita James, Jaleesa Mantooth, Morgan L. James, Keely James, Jemel James, Maurice James, Stavery James, Staden James and great grandson raised as grandson DeVaughn Johnson.  14 great grand and cousins, nieces and nephews and many many friends.

Home Going Services will be conducted on Saturday, October 15, at 11:00 a.m. in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 902 Rutherford St, Muskogee, OK followed by interment in Booker T. Washington Cemetery, Muskogee, OK.

Public Visitation will be held in the Precious Memories Chapel, House of Winn Funeral Home-Muskogee on Friday, October 14th during the hours of 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
